'Mike Pence issues a Statement: "Cannot defend' Trump lewd remarks''

GOP vice presidential candidate Mike Pence on Saturday said he was “offended” by obscene comments that his running mate Donald Trump made in a video from 2005 that surfaced Friday.

“As a husband and father, I was offended by the words and actions described by Donald Trump in the eleven-year-old video released yesterday,” the Indiana governor said in a statement.

“I do not condone his remarks and cannot defend them.”

Pence added that he was “grateful” for Trump’s apology and that he is praying for the mogul’s family, adding that he is looking forward “to the opportunity he has to show what is in his heart when he goes before the nation tomorrow night” in a presidential debate.

A growing list of GOP officials on Saturday have called on Trump to step aside to let Pence take over the ticket, and a number of them have even vowed to write in Pence's name in November.

A spokesman for Pence did not immediately respond when asked for comment about the growing number of calls for Pence to replace the Trump.
